Rs. 116 Cr being expended under district plan in Pulwama

PULWAMA, SEPTEMBER 29: Minister for Horticulture, Abdul Rehman Veeri today reviewed progress of developmental works at a follow-up review meeting of the District Development Board (DDB), Pulwama.
Horticulture Minister, who is also Chairman of DDB Pulwama reviewed sector-wise physical and financial achievements registered in the district under the plan.
He also reviewed action taken by concerned departments for implementation of decisions taken in the DDB meeting chaired by the Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.
Legislators, Muhammad Khalil Bandh, Mir Zahoor Ahmad and Mushtaq Ahmad Shah, District Development Commissioner, Pulwama and district officers also attended the meeting.
It was informed during the meeting that in district Pulwama Rs 116.73 crore is being utilized on development of public infrastructure in various sectors under district plan during current financial year.
Veeri directed officers for strict implementation of all decisions taken in the DDB meeting to ensure better results under different State and centrally sponsored programmes.
He directed officers to submit status report on works listed by the local legislators. He cautioned officers against any laxity in this regard and said that fulfilling public aspirations was the top most priority of the Government.
The Minister while expressing dismay over inadequate replies from officers said that neither subletting of duties nor laxity on their part would be tolerated.
He asked them to put in extra efforts for judicious and effective utilization of funds besides removing bottlenecks hindering developmental works.
Reviewing progress under various projects, the Minister directed officers to ensure expeditious execution of developmental works to extend desired benefits to the people. He also asked them for keeping a strict check over quality of works, adding that efforts should be made to create sustainable assets catering to area-specific developmental needs.
He stressed upon officers and officials to remain present in their jurisdictions and come up to the expectations of general masses.
The Minister stressed upon concerned officers to achieve optimum results for development of core sectors in the district.
He underscored need for paying focused attention to improve road connectivity, drinking water facility, power supply, education and healthcare facilities equally across the district.
Responding to demands raised by legislators pertaining to their respective constituencies, the Minister directed concerned officers to take appropriate action for redressing the issues.
He also assured legislators that decisions taken in the DDB meetings would be implemented in letter and spirit.
Calling for concerted efforts to make J&K a prosperous State, Veeri asked concerned for full utilization of funds provided by the State and Centre for developmental purposes under several flagship programmes.
Earlier, the District Development Commissioner informed the Minister about various achievements registered in various sectors in the district under district, State and Centre Plans.
