SRINAGAR, AUGUST 25:- Minister for Horticulture, Haj and Auqaf, Mr. Abdul Rehman Veeri today visited various areas of Anantnag and took stock of the damages. He assured the affected farmers that government would take necessary steps to compensate them.
The Minister accompanied by Agriculture, Horticulture and Revenue Department officers visited Mattan, Wagazarpora, Akoora, Babagund, Nambal, Boni Nambal Kharbug and Rambawn villages and took stock of the damage caused to paddy crop due to recent hailstorm in these areas.
The Minister was apprised that about 50 to 80 Percent damages were caused to Kharif crops including paddy due to yesterday’s hail storm in these areas.
The Minister directed the concerned officers to make final assessment of the crops and submit the same to the government for providing necessary compensation to the affected farmers of these areas.
Interacting with people, the Minister assured them that government would consider free ration to them. He said that matter would be taken up with the Chief Minister so that necessary relief in cash and kind is provided to the affected families well in time.
The Minister assessed their day to day problems and developmental needs would be addressed on priority.
The Minister heard the people’s problems and assured them that all their genuine developmental needs would be mitigated well in time through concerned departments. He directed concerned District Officers to visit the remote areas and ensure proper disposal of people’s problems and developmental needs on the spot.
The Minister expressed the resolve and determination of the Government to develop all regions and areas in the State particularly rural and remote areas.
Mr. Veeri said the present Government is working hard to improve the lot of people particularly those living below poverty line, in rural and far flung areas and those belonging to weaker sections of society for whom many schemes and programmes are in vogue for the purpose.
