Vehicle plunges into nullah near Banihal; one dead, 8 rescued

Banihal, May 4: At least one passenger died while eight others were rescued after a tempo met with an accident near Banihal area of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday.

The Tempo Traveller, bearing registration number JK02 AR 9269, was on its way to Jammu from Pahalgam when it met with accident at Nachlana, 11 kilometres from Banihal.

Ten tourists from West Bengal were onboard when the tempo rolled down into Bishlari nullah at around 3pm.
According to reports that SHO Ramsoo Mohammad Amin Malik said a rescue operation was launched with the assistance of local volunteers of QRT  and Army’s 23 RR.


“So far one dead body has been retrieved while eight passengers were rescued alive. The search for tenth missing passenger is ongoing,” he said.
