Veteran actor Vinod Khanna (70), who had been admitted to HN Reliance Foundation and Research Centre in Girgaon, Mumbai recently, breathed his last on April 27.
The actor, who has been part of several Bollywood projects, was hospitalised due to “severe dehydration”.
Vinod, a sitting Bharatiya Janata Party MP from Gurdaspur district of Punjab, was born on 6 October, 1946. He was seen in 141 films between 1968 and 2013.
Khanna was also seen in lead roles in several popular films including like Mere Apne, Mera Gaon Mera Desh, Gaddaar (1973 film), Jail Yatra, Imitihaan, Inkaar, Kuchhe Dhaage, Amar Akbar Anthony, Rajput, Qurbani, Kudrat, Dayavan, Kaarnama,Suryaa: An Awakening and Jurm.
After making his debut in 1968, Khanna was first seen in small second lead roles or negative roles.
In 1982, at the peak of his film career, Khanna decided to quit the film industry temporarily though to follow his spiritual guru Osho Rajneesh.
After a 5 year hiatus, he returned to the Hindi film industry to give hit films Insaaf and Satyamev Jayate
