A video showing a police officer removing the tinted film from the Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) of the Vice Chancellor Kashmir University Professor Khurshid Iqbal has courted a controversy after it went viral on social media.
In the video, a DySP-rank official Sheikh Adil, could be seen stopping the SUV of Prof Andrabi near Udhampur on Srinagar-Jammu highway on Saturday afternoon.
In the video that has now gone viral on Facebook and Whatsapp, the DySP is himself seen removing the tinted glasses while “threatening” to seize the SUV, while .
The Vice-Chancellor, on the other hand, is seen off the vehicle and made to wait for more than 15 minutes, and later arguing with the cop that he would not dare to stop the vehicle if his police escort he has “given up” accompanied him.
When contacted, Prof Andrabi told a local Kashmir daily he had no regrets about the incident. “I am a law-abiding citizen, so have no regrets or complaints about anything,” he said.
Despite repeated attempts, SP Udhampur couldn’t be contacted for his version.
