Srinagar, December 22: A Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) and a number of other officials of Lakes and Waterways Development Authority (LAWDA) were booked on Monday by Vigilance Organisation Kashmir, under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
The DSP has been identified as Shah Sikander Khan has been booked by Vigilance Organisation Kashmir in a case registered under FIR number 53. The DSP was serving as an enforcement officer with LAWDA.
The official of vigilance department said that the case was registered after it was found out that the officer along with other officials of LAWDA knew of an illegal construction of a double-storey house by Imtiyaz Ahmad Shah at Ishber, Nishat but he hid the information from the department.
The investigation was initiated by the anti-graft body of Vigilance Organisation, Kashmir against LAWDA officials following the High Court’s October order. It observed that several constructions had been raised without permission in the prohibited areas in violation of the Master Plan.
Observations were also made that these violations were indicative of the fact that the enforcement wing of the LAWDA was acting in collusion with the law breakers and facilitating illegal constructions.
