Vikar inaugurates Solar Power Plant at ITI R S Pura
JAMMU : Minister of State for Technical Education (Independent charge), Power, Information and Rural Development Department, Mr. Vikar Rasool Wani today inaugurated 66.24 KW capacity Solar Power Plant constructed at a cost of Rs. 1.62 crore at Industrial Training Institute (ITI) R S Pura here today.
The Minister was accompanied by Secretary Technical Education Department, Mr. Parvaiz Malik, Director Technical Education, Kashmir, Mr. Jaipal Singh, Principal ITI RS Pura, Representative Tata Power Solar System, Mr. Javed kant and other concerned officers
On the occasion, Mr. Vikar said that Plant which is funded by the Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy under Jawahar Lal Nehru National Solar Mission scheme and constructed by Tata Power Solar Systems Bangalore has already been installed at women’s ITI Pampore and 17 more would be provided with this state of art Technology. He said that Solar Power Plants will be installed a total cost of Rs 32.20 crore, which could provide 24 hours power supply to these technical institutions.
The Minister said that government is committed to make maximum use of this technology and various public institutions and other technical institutions are being provided this facility. He said that the Solar Power Technology will go long way in overcoming power crisis in the State by providing the much needed electricity at a cost effective price besides, ensuring un –interrupted supply.
Referring to the steps taken by government for popularising skill development and also for inculcating scientific temperament among students, the Minister said that the government has undertaken several steps for augmenting the infrastructural capacities of the technical education department to extend facilities to both boys and girls by opening up of a chain of polytechnics and ITI’’s in all the three regions of the State.
He said that central and State Govt. are jointly working hard to make new generation technically sound so that they will not honker about government jobs only instead they will setup their own income generating units with financial and technical support of State govt.
The minster later conducted an inspection of the work shop and Power Grid Station at Miran Sahib and inspected the pace of work being done on repairing the damaged transformers and other related things. While taking cognizance of the attendance of the technical staff, the minster ordered suspension of 3 technicians who were found absent from their duties.
Mr Vikar also inspected the tehsil supply office of the CAPD, department at R S Pura and checked the records and other related things.
