Vikar reviews progress on centre, State Sponsored projects in Banihal

RAMBAN: Minister of State for Information, Technical Education(IC), Rural Dev, Power, CAPD and Social Welfare Vikar Rasool today chaired a high level meeting convened to review progress on various Developmental projects taken up under Centre and State sponsored schemes in Banihal Tehsil.
The meeting was attended by District Development Commissioner Ramban, M H Malik, MD Baghlihar Hydroelectric Project, ADDC and CPO Ramban.
The Minister reviewed the restoration and repair of damaged portion and pot holes on the National Highway and issued strict instructions for better maintenance of the vital road.
He also expressed displeasure over the poor pace of maintenance work being carried out by the private companies on the road stretch falling under his constituencies.
The representatives of various companies engaged in the four lanning project of NHW were directed to complete all maintenance work within a week’s time. He directed the DDC to keep a tab on the work done by the companies by conducting reviews after every ten days so that commuters travelling on the road may get a sigh of relief.
Under R&B Sector all the works of roads and buildings under various central and state sponsored schemes were reviewed threadbare. It was given out that work on almost all the School and Health buildings was going on smoothly and is expected to be completed within two months wherever funds are available.
The Minister directed all the concerned officers to work in co-ordination to remove bottlenecks, if any so that the projects can be completed within the set up time frame and people get the desired benefits at the earliest . He urged all the departments associated with the implementation of developmental schemes to study all aspects and needs of the people of the district while executing the projects.
Reviewing the progress of work on Bridges, he directed to give priority to bridge projects considering the fact that with many rivulets and Nallahs in the area people face great hardships in moving from one place to another in absence of proper connectivity.
The Minister directed the concerned officers to work vigorously by employing all resources to complete the important roads especially Nachalana-Mahu, Banihal Magith, Lamber, Darshipora and all other roads.
While discussing the status of Doligam Gugthal and Nagam Gund roads, the concerned department was instructed to immediately pay land compensation to the owners whose land as been acquired and restore work on these projects within a fortnight. He asked the DDC to explore the possibility of developing a bus stand at Gund Adalkote alongside the proposed four- lane NHW.
Regarding the provision of drinking water, the minister directed the PHE functionaries to make extra efforts to make available this basic service to the people.
Besides others, CMO Ramban, CEO Ramban, Xen R&B, DSWO, DPO and all other officers of the district were present in the meeting.
A large no of PRI representatives also attended the meeting and putforth their demands before the Minister.
