Jammu/Udhampur, September 29, 2016: To promote heart healthy activities and to observe World Heart day on September 29th, J&K’s leading cardiac and multispeciality hospital – Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Superspeciality Hospital (SMVDNSH) organised a walkathon with the theme ‘Power Your Life’ in Jammu and Udhampur districts
This was probably one of the largest event in Jammu with people in thousands from all walks of life – both young and old, men, women and children came forward to take a step towards a healthy heart on the morning of September 29th observed as World Heart Day.
The event was flagged off by Shri Simrandeep Singh (IAS), Deputy Commissioner Jammu district at Dushhera Ground Gandhi Nagar. Passing through various market lanes include Apsra Raod, Gole Market the rally culminated at Rotary Club Green Belt Park.
On the other side in Udhampur the event was flagged off by Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur Shri Niraj Kumar from DC Office, which later culminated at Dhabar Park. Both the events were organized by Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Superspeciality Hospital, Jammu in association with Sahyog India.
Doctors on the occasion stressed upon adopting different relaxation techniques in their daily life to overcome stress and avoid Cardiovascular Diseases by going for regular preventive health check-up.
Experts also appealed the people to follow healthy life, being physically active and maintain a healthy oil-free diet.
“Cardiac diseases are essentially lifestyle diseases and we can reduce the risk by adopting heart healthy food, making exercises part of our daily routine, walking for 30 minutes almost every day, decreasing quantum of fat rich diet and consuming heart healthy oils,” said Dr. Ujwal Mehrotra
