Wani for systematic, schematic upliftment of rural areas

DODA: Minister for PWD (R&B) and Mechanical Engineering Mr. Abdul Majid Wani who completed a weeklong visit of Rural and far flung areas of Doda District today visited his home area Bharath and addressed a series of Public meeting at Dali Kulhand, Udyanpur and Bagla Bharath.

While addressing the public gatherings Mr. Wani apprised the people about the schemes and developmental projects initiated by the coalition government for the economic upliftment of rural areas in systematic and systematic way . He said benefit and welfare schemes were implemented in the region as majority of the population living in rural areas of the District are poor. He said infrastructure developmental projects such as roads, bridges, schools, health care institutions, water supply schemes, irrigation projects were sanctioned and constructed to upgrade the living conditions of people. He further added that developmental activities and benefit schemes were carried out simultaneously so that target of equal and sustainable development of rural areas is achieved.

Minister also said that officers have been directed to strengthen their services in rural areas and ensure redressal of grievances of people at their doorsteps and make galvanized efforts to address the genuine grievances of the people on the spot.

Mr. Wani said that as the region has an abundant potential for development of Agriculture, Horticulture, Apiculture and other allied sectors, schemes and programs were formulated and implemented to boost the production and quality of fruits, vegetables and crops for economic benefit of farming community as most of the population living in the area depends on agriculture and other allied activities.  He also said that power distribution lines were strengthened to provide better and scheduled power supply to the rural as well as urban households, besides all the un-electrified areas were covered under the centrally sponsored RGGVY scheme for electrification.  He said continuous and planned efforts were made by the coalition government in strengthening of services and essential supplies to rural areas.

Earlier on August 23, Mr. Wani inaugurated a 26 Mtr span Steel Motorable bridge on Doda- Dessa road that has been constructed at an estimated cost of Rs. 94.0 lacs by PWD and laid foundation stone of 1.5 Km Old Eidgah Extension road upto Mohalla Shinal which will  be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs. 135.0 lacs, besides  addressing public meeting in Koti and Beolli.

At Koti and Beoli Minister for PWD, Mr. Wani enjoined upon the officers to extend their reach in rural and far flung areas so that   the schemes and developmental programmes are implemented on ground for growth and development of poor masses.

Mr. Wani also said that Coalition Government is fully aware about the problems being faced by the people on ground, he said that massive infrastructure developmental activities and programmes are launched to mitigate the grievances of the people on priority basis.

He said that the much prestigious and important 14.4 Km Beoli- Koti PMGSY road  is nearing completion, as 13 km of road is constructed and the work is going on at pace and soon it will be  completed and help in overall development of the area.

Mr. Wani also redressed the grievances of people on the occasion and gave onspot instructions to the concerned officers to take necessary steps so that problems of people are addressed on their doorsteps.

Chief Engineer PWD (R&B) Jammu Mr. Abdul Hamid Sheikh, SE (R&B) Doda Mr. D.K Razdan, Chief Education Officer Doda Mr. Ayaz Mughal, Tehsildar Bharath Mr. Omi Raj Sombria, CMO Doda, Executive Engineer PMGSY Division Doda, Executive Engineer PHE Division Doda, besides BDO Ghat and other officers also accompanied the Minister.
