SRINAGAR: As many as 167 schemes amounting to about Rs. 467.70 crore are being executed under R&B sector in Kulgam Constituency.
This information was given in a meeting convened here today under the Chairmanship of Minister for Roads & Buildings Mr. Abdul Majid Wani, to review the pace of progress on these schemes.
MLA, Kulgam Mr. Mohammad Yousif Tarigami was also present in the meeting.
Addressing the meeting, the Minister stressed the need for completing on-going road projects in time-bound manner, saying that road connectivity is pivotal for transforming socio-economic profile of people and promoting business transactions between rural and urban areas. He said that the development and up-gradation of road network is in the focussed attention of the Government. He said that efforts are afoot for ensuring cent per cent road connectivity in the State, adding that besides R&B Department, various Central Government agencies have also been engaged for execution of some mega road projects in the state.
Taking detailed review of progress project-wise and scheme-wise, the Minister directed the executing agencies to accelerate the pace of construction on the under-execution projects ensuring their timely completion. He laid stress for ensuring quality of work strictly as per specification. He also took serious note of slow progress of some vital projects in the Constituency and asked the concerned to monitor the pace of work on the spot.
The Meeting was informed that 134 schemes including 16 bridges involving Rs. 311.64 crore are being executed in the Constituency under R&B sector. Similarly, 8 projects including Mini Secretariat, District Hospital, Degree College, Tehsildar Quarter, Kulgam and Ashimuji Kelam bridge are being constructed by involving Rs. 116.74 crore by the JKPCC, the meeting was informed.
The meeting was further informed that out of 25 schemes, 22 schemes stand completed by utilizing Rs. 33.83 crore against allocated funds to the tune of Rs, 39.32 crore by constructing 52 kms roads connecting 19 habitations in the Constituency under PMGSY.
Among others, Commissioner Secretary, R&B, Mrs. Tanveer Jehan, Chief Engineer, R&B Kashmir Mr. Satish Razdan, Chief Engineer, PMGSY Mr. Vinod Tikoo, Managing Director, JKPCC Mr. T. R Bhagat, besides senior Engineers of R&B and JKPCC attended the meeting.
