One soldier was martyred and two terrorists were shot dead in an encounter in Jammu & Kashmir’s Kulgam district Tuesday morning, as per reports.
The gunbattle started after terrorists fired upon a team of Army personnel, state police and CRPF who were conducting a search and cordon operation.
A police official said that two terrorist were killed in the gunfight. “The bodies are yet to be recovered,” he said, adding that the slain are believed to be affiliated with Lashkar-e-Toiba terrorist outfit.

He said that an army soldier, identified as Prakash Yadav, was wounded in the firefight. He was rushed to a hospital where he succumbed.
The official said that two CRPF personnel, identified as sub-inspector Amit Kumar and Constable Avnish, were also injured in the gunfight that broke out around 1 am in Redwani area of the district.
Two terrorists who were hiding in a house were shot dead.
Meanwhile, another encounter has started between security forces and terrorists at Hafoo area of Tral in Pulwama. The area has been cordoned off.
A terrorist is reportedly been killed.
