Kishtwar:An ambulance was used to transport official goods in Kishtwar district on Tuesday.
The incident came to light after a picture went viral on social media sites showing some persons unloading a cupboard from an ambulance in Kishtwar town.
Block Medical Officer (BMO) Dr Gansham Singh said: “The ambulance was coming back empty after dropping a patient. I asked the driver to transport two almirahs in it for the BMO office as they were lying in the area for a long time and we had not been able to find anyone who could transport them to the office.” “As per rule, it was wrong, but the almirahs are of the BMO office and the ambulance was empty,” the BMO said.
Chief Medical Officer, Kishtwar, Abdul Majid Malik said, “I have sought an explanation from the driver, Tariq Parveez. Action will be taken accordingly.”
The blatant misuse of state resources such as ambulances has been taken up with the authorities several times in the past.
