Orange alert has been issued by meteorological center Srinagar for the next 48 hours (12-13 December) in the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. Heavy rain and snowfall have been warned in all three divisions.
In Orange Warning, passengers have been instructed to travel in the respective divisions keeping in mind the weather.
Instructions have been given to make all necessary arrangements in snow prone areas in Kashmir. Meanwhile, the Mughal road connecting the district Poonch and Rajori to Shopian (Kashmir) along the 434-km Srinagar-Leh National Highway was closed for vehicular traffic on Wednesday due to snowfall.
All flights were canceled from Srinagar International Airport for the fifth consecutive day due to reduced visibility.
According to Sonam Lotus, director of Meteorological Center Srinagar, due to western disturbances, the weather will be bad in the three divisions on Thursday and Friday. There may be heavy rain and snowfall in many areas.
Due to snowfall on Wednesday, contact routes were closed at Border Kasaba Gurez in Bandipora, Karnah in Kupwara and Tangdhar.
