JAMMU, MARCH 17: Jammu and Kashmir will witness moderate to heavy rains for two days starting Thursday and improvement in weather will begin from Saturday afternoon.
“There will be moderate to heavy rains for two days across Kashmir. Heavy rains will be mostly witnessed in South Kashmir and Pir Panchal and Chenab Valley areas of Jammu region,” Director Meteorological Department, Sonam Lotus, said here.
There is no immediate flood threat in the valley confirmed the director and that there was no need to panic.
However, the director did warn that the rains could trigger avalanches in landslide-prone areas and locals of these areas need to take extra care.
Due to heavy downpour, the day temperature in Srinagar and other places in Kashmir and Jammu would witness a sharp decrease, a MeT official said.
