Will ensure common man isn’t harassed unnecessarily: Vaid

A day after being appointed as the Jammu and Kashmir police chief, Dr SP Vaid on Thursday said that he would ensure that the common voice isn’t harassed unnecessarily after he assumes office.

Vaid, Special DG (Coordination & Law and Order), who is taking over as the next Director General of Police, upon the completion of extended term of service of K Rajendra Kumar by the end of this year, told KNS that there are lot of things to do, but would share only after joining the office as DGP.

He said he would ensure that no common man is harassed unnecessarily.

“But I would expect media to report positively which is the need of the hour. Media is mostly highlighting negative things like wherever police uses excessive force. Media wo dikhati hai jahan police waley ka dhanda chaley. They should also highlight when a traffic cop holds hand of an old man and helps him to cross the road. These things also need to be reported,” Vaid told KNS.

Vaid said his focus would be to make police force friendlier.
