Srinagar, February 01: “I will prefer a fresh start but will not barter interests of the people of J&K”, said Mehbooba Mufti on Sunday while clearing air about PDP’s decision to not form government in coalition with right wing Hindu Nationalist Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP).
As per the reports in a local daily, during last year Assembly elections, PDP has won with the highest number of 28 seats in the history of Jammu and Kashmir and has joined hands with right wing BJP. The late CM declared it “history in making” but after 10 months of governance, the cabinet was dissolved due to sad demise of the Chief Minister and governor rule was implemented.
Now a month is about to pass and still Jammu and Kashmir is running without a public government. All eyes were on Fairview as Ms Mehbooba kept silence.
She chaired a PDP’s core group meet on January 17 but nothing came out from the meeting that lasted for more than 5 hours. There were a lot of speculations made and until now the PDP chief has failed to take any decision.
This Sunday when Ms Mehbooba rose to speak in the core party meet at Fairview residence in Srinagar, she said,“We all know what happened in last ten months when our government ruled J&K,” she is quoted to having said in the meeting. We will have to reassess whether we can absorb the shocks which Mufti Sahab had to do so frequently in his effort to forge reconciliation between the regions and the people of the State.”
