Reasi, May 15: In a shocking event that took place a few days ago, a female was demanded sexual favors in lieu of getting her land recorded by a Patwari at Pouni village of Reasi district.

The woman, who owned seven kanals of land bearing khasra no. 435, approached the Tehsildar requesting him to transfer the land in her name as she had not finished the girdawari. The Tehsildar directed her to contact the Patwari regarding the case. The woman went ahead to the Patwari and narrated him the entire incident.
Initially the Patwari asked her a lump sum of Rs.15000 to get the work done. Later, the woman and her husband urged the Patwari to accept Rs.10000 and do the needful. After taking the bribe, the Patwari assured the woman that her work will be done the earliest, but the matter did not solve and kept on lingering for months.
After waiting months, finally the woman visited the Patwari’s office again. This time the corrupt official asked her for sexual favors to get her work done. And not just this, the Patwari kept blackmailing her.
The victim told her husband the entire episode and he tried to record the Patwari’s telephonic conversations as evidence. The indecent Patwari kept on calling the woman and used derogatory language at her, yearning to be involved in sexual activity with the woman.
After enough proof, the victim and her husband approached Police Post Pouni and lodged complaint against the Patwari.
Giving details to a local daily, the SHO Pouni confirmed that stern action will be taken against the Patwari. The Patwari was earlier attached to DC Reasi for his negligence of work. The Tehsildar of the area was unaware of the recordings while SSP Reasi and SHO Pouni have confirmed the proof.
The Patwari dismissed the claims and bragged about his affinity with the Revenue Minister and declared that no inquiry will be conducted against him.
The hapless couple have appealed before the State Administration to take note of the matter and get the culprit punished.
