Woman bites off chunk of neighbour’s tongue as he tried to rape her
Thiruvananthapuram, Aug 02 : Barely a few months since the bobbitisation of the self-styled godman rocked the state, a 43-year-old homemaker disfigured her neighbour when he allegedly tried to rape her. The incident was reported at Njarakkal here. The victim bit off the tongue of Rakesh M G, 30, when he trespassed into her house’s premises last Wednesday night and tried to rape her when she came out of the house. Apparently in self-defence, the woman bit off the tongue of the youth during the spat, said police officers.
The cops said the woman lodged a complaint against Rakesh the next day and produced the remains of the tongue – approximately 2 cm in length – before the police. Following this, the police registered a case and launched an inquiry under SI Regeesh Kumar.
Rakesh, who had been absconding since the incident, was arrested on Monday from a private hospital in Kochi where he was undergoing treatment. The police officers said the youth told the hospital authorities he injured his tongue in an accident. He underwent a surgery at the hospital and the cops arrested him after he was discharged.
Rakesh, a driver, was arrested under IPC Sections 447 (Punishment for criminal trespass), 354 (Assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 511 of 376 (Punishment for attempt to rape). He was produced before the court, which remanded him in judicial custody on Tuesday.
The cops said similar allegations had been levelled against Rakesh in the past as well.
