Kishtwar, November 28: The district Excise sleuths ahave tied up their shoelaces as they were seen conducting raids at several places under its drive to curb the menace of illicit distillation of liquor in Kishtwar. Following the raids, the cops have arrested a lady bootlegger from Shakti Nagar W- 10 Kishtwar on Friday.
As per sources, the woman bootlegger has been identified as Chandni wife of Beda Tsering. She is the resident of Kabban Padder but presently staying at Shakti Nagar Kishtwar.
The series of raids is being conducted at different places at Kishtwar District by a team of excise department led by Inspector Towsif Mustafa Wani from Doda-Kishtwar-Ramban circle under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner Excise Shahid Saleem and Excise Taxation Officer Gurdev Kumar.
Besides arresting the lady for alleged distillation of alcohol in Kishtwar, the team has also destroyed over 100 liters of Lahan (locally made liquor) during raids at different places.
This move taken by District excise department is being hailed by the local residents. “These steps undertaken by the excise team officials will put a curb on menace of illicit liquor and bootleggers to make a better society,” said a local.
