Woman delivered dead fetus in the absence of docs; BMO suspended, 2 docs terminated

JAMMU, June 5:

After a pregnant woman delivered a dead fetus in the Government hospital in PHC Atholi, Paddar, Health and Medical Education Minister Bali Bhagat suspended Dr Shafqat Javed, Incharge Block Medical Officer (BMO), Atholi, Paddar in Kishtwar distric.

Two other doctors who were posted under National Health Mission (NHM)  have also been recommended for termination from services after they were found absent from their duty.

Dr Javed will remain attached in the office of Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Kishtwar, during the suspension period

Dr Asfia Fatima, MBBS (NHM) and Dr Rakesh Kotwal (ISM) NHM who were absent from their duty at the PHC Atholi (Paddar) are said to be terminated from their services, under instruction from Bhagat.

Meanwhile, Dr Sumitra Devi, Medical Officer, District Hospital, Kishtwar, has been transferred and posted in PHC Atholi.

Due to the absence of Doctors from duty in PHC Atholi, the patient Sushma Devi, 24, wife of Sewa Ram R/o Istihar delivered a dead fetus.

Two others doctors posted NHM as ISM doctor and Female Multi Purpose Health Worker, were forced to conduct the delivery in the absence of BMP and MBBS doctor, posted at the PHC.
