Woman injured as India, Pakistan trade heavy fire on LoC in Jammu

A civilian was injured as the armies of India and Pakistan traded heavy fire on Wednesday on the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.

An official said Pakistan Army used mortars, small weapons and automatics to target Indian positions in Shahpur and Balakote areas.

“Indian troops are effectively and strongly retaliating. Till last reports came in firing exchanges were going on between the two sides,” he said.

A woman, identified as Shamim Akhter, wife of Abdul Majeed of Takh Dharati village of Balakote was injured in the shelling.
