Womaniser Abu Dujana’s encounter : Jilted lover turned police informer led security forces to LeT commander
Kashmir, Aug 02 : Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned – by the time Lashkar-e-Taiba commander Abu Dujana recognised the accuracy of this idiom, it was too late.
The terrorist, one of India’s most wanted, was killed by security forces in a pre-dawn operation at the tiny hamlet of Hakripora near Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Tuesday.
According to top security sources, a girl from the area became an informer for the police to reach Dujana after he ditched her. Girlfriends of terrorists have become a key link for government forces in hunting down the jihadis in Kashmir.
Dujana had not only become notorious among locals for his debauchery but his frequent visits to young women’s homes in Kashmir had almost landed him in security forces’ net many times.
Most such infiltrators do not live beyond two to three years, but the LeT man not only lasted seven years in Kashmir but also managed to carry out a string of attacks on security forces in the state.
He was designated a category “A++” terrorist and carried a bounty of Rs 15 lakh.
Reports suggest the jihadi may have come to the village to meet his wife, a local girl he had married.
Inspector general of J-K police Munir Khan hinted at Dujana’s womanising ways in a press conference.
“He used to enter any house and do anything he wanted to do. Good riddance that way.
“I think people should relax. The girls, our sisters, they should relax now that no such person is there to harass them,” the top cop said.
It is not the first time in Kashmir that a terrorist was cornered with the help of his girlfriend.
If security agencies are to be believed, Burhan Wani, the poster boy of Hizbul Mujahideen in Kashmir, was also killed by government forces on July 8 last year with the help of information from one of his lovers.
Another top Lashkar commander, Abdullah Uni, was killed in Sopore when his wife became a link for the security agencies in 2013.
Before him, another LeT commander, Abu Tallah, was also eliminated by security forces in 2009 with the help of a honeytrap on the outskirts of Srinagar.
