Work on Rs 5.26 Cr Tangmarg-Drang road to start soon: Mir

DRANG: The government has approved construction work on the 5 Km road from Tangmarg to Drang-Mahien, in Tangmarg Tehsil, said Minister for Agriculture, Mr. Ghulam Hassan Mir in a well-attended public meeting held at village Drang today. He said in this regard Centre has given the nod for the release of Rs 5.26 crore under PMGSY. He said work on the road and bridge on Nallah Drang would be started soon.
“To upgrade the drinking water supply facility in the area, a new water supply scheme for Drang and Mahien has also been sanctioned by the government for which an amount of Rs 80 lakh has been earmarked” Mir said.
To ensure hassle free availability of ration in the area, the Minister said that a sale outlet of CA&PD would be opened at Drang shortly.
Mr. Mir said that the rich tourism potential of Drang would be fully explored by upgrading tourist infrastructure, adding that in this regard a project report is being formulated for funding from the concerned Ministry.
Mir expressed the resolve and determination of the Government to develop all regions and areas in the State particularly far flung and remote areas. He appealed people to reject the divisive politics practiced by certain groups to the detriment of the State.
The Minister said Government has fashioned its development initiative in such a manner that the Kandi and remote areas get their due share. He said political executives and senior Government functionaries regularly visit these areas to ascertain the development needs and factor them in the developmental paradigm of the State.
Mr. Mir said the present Government is working hard to ameliorate the lot of people particularly those living below poverty line, in rural and far flung areas and those belonging to weaker sections of society for whom many schemes and programmes are in vogue for the purpose.
The Minister said many path breaking steps were taken during the last over five years of present Government. He said sectors like education, health, social welfare, agriculture, power, R&B and PHE etc. has seen phenomenal growth and progress.
The Minister asked the people to remain cautious of the designs of vested interest groups who create division among people in the name of catchy slogans and ideas. He said their aim is just to hoodwink the gullible and innocent people and not to make any positive contribution to people’s lives. “They have nothing to offer you except impede the growth of the state which has undergone a turnaround after the hard efforts of the present Government”, he said.
Enumerating several measures taken for comprehensive development of the Tangmarg Constituency, the Minister said besides up gradation of infrastructure under core sectors, the varied tourism potential of the area received focused attention adding that work on several tourism projects have already been completed, while some projects would be completed this fiscal and many more projects are in pipeline. He added that power infrastructure in all villages is also being modernized in phased manner under different Schemes.
The Minister appealed Panchs and Sarpanchs to act in close coordination with the local administration in the implementation of various welfare and flagship development programmes in their respective panchayats.
The Minister gave on spot directions to various departments to redress grievances and development needs of people on priority basis.
