On World Poetry Day, Academy holds mushaira at Saigal Hall
JAMMU – On the World Poetry Day yesterday, J&K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages held a Kashmiri Mushaira (poetic symposium) at K L Saigal Hall here where besides a large number of poets reciting their verses the importance and relevance of poetry was also highlighted.
The poetic symposium was presided by famous poet and writer Aseer Kishtwari while noted poet Prem Nath Shaad was also in the presidium.
The poets who participated in the event and read out their verses included J. L. Koul, Prem Nath Shaad, Jagan Nath Sagar, Moti Lal Masroof, Brij Hali, Aseer Kishtwari, Autar Krishen Naz, Sehar Ganderbali, Omkar Rana, Rattan Lal Rattan, K L Pardesi, Ashok Gowhar, Vijay Wali, Zaer Banihali, Somnath Sanam, Santosh Nadaan and Mushtaq Ahmad.
Rich tributes were also paid to prominent journalist, writer and historian, Khushwant Singh who passed away at the age of 99 on March 20.
The mushaira was conducted by Mohammad Ashraf Tak while Chief Editor, Pahari, Dr. Farooq Anwar Mirza presented vote of thanks.
