Youngsters detained for uploading Burhan’s Video released by Police

Srinagar, September 11: No one out of the dozen students detained by for uploading pictures and videos of militants on social sites has been booked by police.

All of the detainees were of the age group between 16 to 19 years living with their families in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district. The police has registered a case at Police Station Awantipora under the Unlawful Activities Act against these youngsters for uploading pictures and videos of militants on facebook and other social networking sites which was attracting youth towards militancy.

Sources said the students were picked up by police after contacting social networking site Facebook and messaging mobile application WhatsApp.

After investigation and counseling, all the detainees were released and handed over to their parents with a warning to be booked for committing a serious criminal offence, if found to be uploading the same twice. The police also has a counseling session with the detainees and their parents in which the officers made the youngsters and their parents aware about the consequences of uploading such content on internet.
