The Prime Minister Narendra Modi met a 25 member youth delegation from the Gujjar-Bakkarwal communities from Poonch district in Jammu and Kashmir.
Major Ajeet Kumar Mehta leading the delegation, is on a Delhi and Agra tour, for “Sair-e-Watan,” as part of ‘Operation Sadbhavna’ of the Army.
The youth shared their experiences and the difficulties faced by their communities due to lack of basic infrastructure and employment opportunities with the Prime Minister They also conveyed the inconvenience they face due to the lack of mobile network connectivity.
The Prime Minister shared his own experiences of lok-sampark (public contact) in the districts of Poonch and Rajouri. He said he understood the developmental needs and aspirations of the Gujjar-Bakkarwal youth, and assured them that the Government would spare no effort to ensure that these are met. He appreciated their spirit and said the Gujjar-Bakkarwal youth would get their due share in the progress and development of the nation.
