A deputation of Chamber of Commerce & Industry along with hoteliers of Jammu under the Chairmanship of Y.V. Sharma, President CCI called on Regional Director, Pollution Control Board Mufti Sajad Hussian and discussed with him the matter relating to the notices issued by the Pollution Control Board to some hoteliers for their sealing. Y.V.Sharma apprised the Regional Director that the notices issued by the PCB has sent panic among the hoteliers. Sharma requested the Regional Director to postpone the process of sealing keeping in view the ongoing Mata Vaishno Devi Yatra and Baba Amarnath Yatra which is going to start shortly. The hoteliers assured the PCB authorities that they will complete their STB which is compulsory for the hotels whose room capacity is above nineteen within a period of two months. The hoteliers even assured that they will close the rooms above nineteen and they will hand over the keys of closed rooms to the PCB authorities and will demand back those keys only after they will fulfill the required formalities under STB.

Arun Gupta while speaking on the occasion also said that since the Mata Vaishno Devi Yatra is going on and the Baba Amarnath Yatra is going to start in a few days thus the process of sealing will bring a sense of insecurity among the pilgrims and also among the business community who are waiting for the whole year to start the yatra and receive brisk business.

Y.V.Sharma also spoke to the Dy. Commissioner Jammu and Divisional Commissioner Jammu and apprised them about this matter. They assured that they will take up the matter with the concerned authorities.

The Regional Director assured the deputation that the sealing process will be postponed if the concerned hoteliers will give an affidavit that they will fulfill the required formalities under STB.
