Jammu: 25 September 2016, The Zorawar Trekking Expedition flagged in by the Army at an impressive “Flagging in Ceremony” conducted at Chogan ground, Kishtwar recently.
The Army officer present at the event meet and felicitated all members of the trekking team who belonged to various parts of Kisthwar and were on a trekking expedition from Gulabgarh to Bhujwas .The trekking expedition consisted of 10 youth from Kishtwar who covered a distance of 96 Kilometers from Gulabgarh to Bhujwas and back, climbing heights ranging from 6000ft to 12000ft.
The trekking expedition was flagged off on 15 September 2016 from Gulabgarh. The trekking expedition reached Gulabgarh on the 23 September 2016 after a grueling nine day trek over the inhospitable and treacherous terrain of the “Great Himalayan Range” touching the highest point at 11154 ft.
The adventure spirit of the trekking team was applauded by one and all and it was brought out that such initiatives will definitely go a long way in promoting adventure sports in the region.
