MUMBAI, OCTOBER 26: Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Department and Tribal Affairs Ch Zulfkar Ali who is in Mumbai these days interacted with the Public Distribution Department officers of Maharashtra state and visited several Fair Price Shops in various localities of Mumbai to acquaint himself with the PDS there.
Secretary, Food and Civil Supplies of Maharashtra Government, Deepak Kapoor briefed the Minister about the implementation of the National Food Security Act in Maharashtra State. Secretary apprised the Minister about the challenges they faced at the initial stage of implementation of NFSA in this highly dense populated state of India.
The Minister was also briefed about the distribution system in Maharashtra and problems being faced in the state. He also sought information about techniques to tackle these problems and overcome challenges.
Meanwhile Ch. Zulfkar Ali also visited various Fair Price Shops in Machi Mar, Colaba and Cuff Parade areas of Mumbai city to know about the distribution system practically on ground.
