Budgam, June, 04: Deputy Commissioner Budgam, Shahbaz Ahmed Mirza (KAS) today
convened a meeting of PWD department in order have a firsthand status of works
presently going under different sectors including, CNT, NABARD, CRF across the district.
During the meeting it was given out that due to unprecedented circumstances and
uncertainty in the overall situation going on since last August. All development works
particularly macdamisation of roads got seriously affected. The misery got more serious
with the unexpected heavy snow fall in the first week of November 2019. However
situation got improved after winter session got over and we were expecting to start the
working season as early as possible, but with the fallout of Covid-19 spread all
preparations got stand still and no work could be executed despite all preparations.
While elaborating on start up process, SE R&B said that annual repairing of all main roads
has commenced across District Budgam under different sectors. He said presently
improvement work is going on in full swing covering road sections between Bemina to
Budgam, Humhama to Budgam, Budgam to Ichgam simultaneously in Chadoora division
improvement work is under way between Chadoora to Wathora section, Chadoora to
Dadompora and on other links. Apart from improvement process, SE said that 109 kms
are earmarked to be macadamized in district Budgam during the current season. The
tendering process of the same is under process and it is expected that under first phase
the department will be able to macadamize 50% of ear marked road length under
different sectors in both R&B divisions of Budgam and Chadoora.
Speaking on the occasion the DDC urged upon the concerned that improvement
process is the main concern keeping in view the dilapidated conditions of the roads of the
District. This shall be taken as priority mission and complete the process on war footing.
DDC further said, facilitation of comfortable communication has proved pivotal for overall
progress. He reiterated that keeping in view the time loss, more efforts are required to
mitigate the gap.
The meeting was also attended by the SE R&B Srinagar, Budgam, Exen R&B Budgam and
Chadoora, CPO, Exen PMGSY, AD planning and other concerned.
