2G Internet services in J&K extended till February 24


The ban on high-speed 3G, 4G Internet services has been extended till February 24 in Jammu and Kashmir, while 2G Internet services will remain working with 1400+ whitelist websites, the Jammu and Kashmir government said in a notice released early Sunday.

Clarifying on the “temporary” suspension of mobile data in the Valley, the Jammu and Kashmir government said: “It has also been reported attempts have been made to disturb the public peace by spreading rumours to incite the general public over the last week which reinstated temporary suspension on the mobile data for limited period of time by the authorized officers.”

The notice also directed people with internet access not to misuse it for uploading “provocative material inimical to the interest of the state”.
