With multiple new features and tons of new capabilities, Android 11 looks promising than ever. And you must be keen to try them out to get the first-hand experience but, unfortunately, the preview is meant only for developers and not intended for consumers. Therefore, it is recommended to not install the preview on your phone unless you aren’t bothered of getting your data lost.

Android 11 developer preview features

Improved 5G connectivity: In Android 11, Google has enhanced and updated the existing connectivity APIs so you can take even more advantage of 5G’s improved speeds. The Android 10 supports 5G but looks like Android 11 will provide a much better experience.

Support for new screen types: Smartphones in 2020 are likely to get new form-factors and innovative displays than ever. To keep up with the upcoming trend, Google has expanded the support of pinhole and waterfall screens in Android 11.
New features in the notification panel: A dedicated conversations section has been added in the notification shade which will help user instantly find their ongoing conversations with people in their favourite apps. Like Facebook chat heads, Android 11 will bring Bubbles – a way to keep conversations in view and accessible while multi-tasking. Further, users will be able to insert images into notification replies.

Screen recording and dark mode: Thankfully, we might see the screen-recording and improved dark mode feature in Android 11.

Advanced app security and privacy: In Android 11, Google has extended Android’s defence-in-depth strategies to more areas of the platform and added new features and APIs for apps. BiometricPrompt now supports three authenticator types – strong, weak, and device credential. Android 11 further adds platform support for secure storage and retrieval of verifiable identification documents.
