Jammu: Building for Women’s Entrepreneurship develope-ment centre was announced to be developed at Exhibition Ground, Jammu. For the purpose, Industries Depptt allotted the required piece of land to MD SICOP for raising a building for Women’s entrepreneurship development Center.
During the process of construction, some 21 Shops in the said premises of Exhibition Ground were to be demolished. However, the process of the demolition that too, without serving the prior notice to the shopkeepers of the market, continued. Finally, the aggrieved shopkeepers approached the hon’ble court of J&k, Jammu, which passed a direction to SICOP to enter into MOU with all the affected shopkeepers for their (shopkeepers) rehabilitation in the same building (Women Entrepreneurship bldg) Wherein, following the direction of the hon’ble court, the requisite MOU was later on signed by MD SICOP with all the aggrieved shopkeepers in year 2018-2019.
Now, In this regard a delegation of all the affected shopkeepers led by the office bearers of Traders and Manufacturers association, central market, Exhibition Ground jammu met MD SICOP in recent past (ending February month) to know about the status of all the uprooted shopkeepers of the market for their rehabilitation. Wherein, MD SICOP asked them (Shopkeepers) to meet then commissioner secretary to government, Industries & Commerce (Now Principal Secretary) in this regard.
Now, the said building is at the verge of completion & kind attention of the Government is drawn towards the very important & genuine demand of their rehabilitation in the same newly constructed building for which the MD SICOP had drawn MOU with all the uprooted shopkeepers, who are suffering very badly for last several years without any livelihood.
Keeping in view the latest developments, the Traders & Manufacturers Association, central market, Exhibition Ground jammu today, the 08th of March organised a press conference to felicitate the new office bearers of chamber of conference & Industries jammu & also to raise the burning issue of 21 demolished shops in the said premises of central market, Exhibition Ground. Wherein, the President of CCI jammu Mr Arun Gupta assured the aggrieved shopkeepers present in the press conference that he shall take up the issue for rehabilitation of 21 shopkeepers in the same building of women Enterpreneur development centre being constructed at the same site of premises. He (Arun Gupta ) was of the view that Govt always look for the welfare of the people but not hitting hard on their livelihood.
Parmod Kapahi, president of Traders & Manufacturers Association also spoke at the occasion & assured all the affected shopkeepers that their issue of rehabilitation shall be taken to their logical end.
At the conclusion of the programme, Rakesh Jalali expressed vote of thanks to the newly elected President of Chamber of commerce & Industry, Sh Arun Gupta & his office bearers for having spared their valuable time to grace the occasion & also wished them success in their endeavour to achieve the desired goal pertaining to the problems of jammu trade & Industry fraternity.
