Center for Innovation, Incubation Technology (CIIT) will also be set up in degree colleges of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. Over the years, CIITs have been established in two polytechnic colleges of Jammu and Kashmir. Both these centres have been set up in collaboration with Tata Technology. Science College, Women’s College Parade in Jammu, Maulana Azad Memorial College, Udhampur, Kathua degree colleges, apart from some prominent degree colleges of Jammu division and degree colleges Srinagar, CIITs will be set up.
Modern machines and equipment will be brought to these centres. A group of about 20 leading companies, including Tata Technology, will assist in setting up the centre. The Jammu and Kashmir government will contribute about ten per cent of the amount in this. CIIT aims to prepare the students studying in colleges by giving practical training to get direct jobs in the private sector after doing degree courses. The course will teach how to work in industries and what kind of equipment and machinery to work with.
Courses in robotics, automobile engineering, digital manufacturing and electric vehicle design will be introduced. Principal of Science College Prof. Ravindra Tikku, the nodal officer, said that the survey is going on to set up CIIT. Representatives of groups of other companies, including Tata Technology, visited the colleges and conducted surveys. Work is underway on this proposal. A significant centre of CIIT is likely to be established in the Science College. Industries will be directly linked with the colleges. Employment opportunities will increase for the students. Centres are being set up keeping in mind the present times. There are many courses in colleges including B.Sc Computer, Functional English, BBA, BCA, for which the centres will prove to be very helpful.
