New Delhi: Gold medallist shooter in 2018 Commonwealth Games in Australia, Shreyasi Singh on Sunday joined BJP, in the presence of senior party leader Bhupendra Singh at BJP headquarters here.
The daughter of former Union Minister late Digvijay Singh, is likely to contest the Assembly elections in Bihar, either from Amarpur (Banka) or Jamui, depending on the seat sharing with alliance partners. She hails from Jamui district of Bihar and this is her first step in politics.
The Silver medalist at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow of Scotland, was also part of the Indian team at the 2013 Trap Shooting World Cup, held in Acapulco of Mexico.
Late Digvijay Singh, Member of Parliament from Banka in Bihar, had served as the Union Minister of State in the Ministries of Finance and External Affairs.
In 1999, he became the Union Minister of State for Railways in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee-led NDA government.
Singh’s mother Putul Kumari was MP from Banka constituency.
