Free WiFi facility will be available to the devotees coming on the pilgrimage of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi. The Information and Technology Department of Jammu and Kashmir has sent a proposal for providing an accessible WiFi facility to the passengers from Katra to Maa Bhawan, the base camp of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi, for the approval of the Union Ministry of Information and Technology.
Amit Sharma, Administrative Secretary, Information and Technology Department, says that a large number of devotees from all over the country and abroad arrive on the pilgrimage of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi every year. There should be no problem with the internet in such a situation, and they can get an accessible WiFi facility during the journey. Therefore, the Information and Technology Department of the State Government has prepared a proposal and sent it for the approval of the Union Ministry of Information and Technology.
Once the proposal is approved, a plan is also being prepared to work in this direction expeditiously. At present, the devotees of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi have the facility of BSNL WiFi but have to pay for it.
