A number of Delhi doctors have contracted the virus, known as Sars-CoV-2, and hospital staff are urging the government to improve the supply and quality of protective gear.

The coronavirus causes a potentially fatal respiratory illness called Covid-19.

Although most people recover without needing special treatment, one in six falls seriously ill and has difficulty breathing, with the elderly and people with pre-exisiting ailments at greater risk.

As of this writing, Delhi had over 150 coronavirus cases, according to an India Today tracker. Two people have died and six have recovered.

Countrywide cases have crossed 2,000, with 65 dead.

All of India is currently under lockdown in an effort to contain the spread of the highly infectious virus. The shutdown is scheduled to end on April 14.
