Chilling details of sex trafficking of Tollywood actresses to the US include names of two top southern starlets.
US authorities busted an international sex racket run by a couple that worked as production managers in Telugu film industry. According to recent media reports, two top Tollywood actresses are involved in the flesh trade scam.
According to a report in Times of India, sources allege that five victims named in the criminal complaint filed by Homeland Security Investigations include two well-known actresses from Bengaluru and Chennai.
Kingpin Kishan Modugumudi alias Sreeraj Chennupati and Chandrakala organised these trips for flesh trade. They bought their plane tickets, booked hotel rooms across the country. They took these actresses and anchors to Telugu and other Indian conferences held in the USA to nab potential customers for sexual acts.
After the news of racket bust reached Indian media, Movie Artists Association will be holding a meeting on June 24 to discuss the matter.
Movie Artistes Association president Shivaji Raja told the daily, “We are aware of Kishan Modugumudi’s suspicious activities. He worked as a production manager and co-produced at least two films. We have been warning artists not to go abroad for performances with those with dubious antecedents. A few years ago, when I was vice-president, we noticed suspicious activity. Usually, artists are not aware of the visa type issued to them for attending conferences in the United States, Dubai, Singapore or Australia. We are meeting on June 24 on the issue. We are requesting artists to inform MAA about performance schedules and attendance at events abroad so that we can talk to organisers or associations and verify credentials.”
Telugu actress and TV anchor Sri Reddy had acknowledged that she was approached by Kishan and Chandrakala. She alleges that the couple has coordinators in Hyderabad and will offer a different sum of money, based on the popularity of the actresses to be part of these events that front as prostitution rings.
“They will arrange visa and everything else for you. Artists are paid anything between $1000 and $10,000, depending on their popularity,” News 18 quoted her as saying.
Sanjjanaa Galrani and Anasuya are other two actresses who talked about the encounter they had with Kishan and Chandrakala. While Sanjjanaa said that many a times these not-so-famous actors are lured into it for more money, she also added that many of these trips are conducted based on mutual agreement.
