India’s captain fantastic Virat Kohli has broken yet another record during his side’s second T20I match against Sri Lanka on Tuesday (January 7) in Indore.
Virat became the fastest skipper to score 1000 runs in T20I cricket, only the sixth individual ever to reach this milestone.
Going into the match, Kohli needed just 25 more runs to achieve the feat and he did exactly that. He played an unbeaten knock of 30 runs to guide his side to victory.
Other than MS Dhoni (1112 runs from 62 games), Kohli is only the second-ever Indian to reach this record milestone as a skipper.
The ‘Men In Blue’ captain also went past Rohit Sharma to become the highest run-scorer in the shortest format of the game.
