But the question arises, will this be an alternative for auto rickshaws. With the overcharging by auto-rickshaws drivers, the facility of mobile app taxies can bring relief to the people. But this can be only acceptable if the cost or prices are low.
Since the day, Transport Department tightened noose over illegitimate practice of overcharging, auto rickshaw operators have gone on rampage. They are demanding Rs. 50 minimum meter down charge, and setting up prepaid booths at Railway Station Jammu. Popular online mobile app services Ola and Uber will be an alternative to save people and tourists from fleecing by Auto rickshaw operators.
Transport Department is planning to bring online cab service of Ola and Uber in the State of Jammu & Kashmir. In the lines of metro cities of India, Transport Department of Jammu & Kashmir wants to start online cab booking services to the people and tourists and has sent a proposal to State Government, and after getting the nod, Ola and Uber will begin their services that has been hanging in lurch since 2017.
People and tourists will take get rid of the problem of overcharging by auto rickshaw operators. Common masses will also get relief from boarding overloaded mini buses. Quite popular apps Ola and Uber offer mobile app based online cab booking services, give comfortable travelling to commuters. In Jammu City, approximately 2, 600 auto rickshaws are running on roads, but fleecing has become daily routine that has left passengers vexed. People are also welcoming this step of Department and hoping for its early beginning in the State.
